Offering German/English bilingual education at three locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, the German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) academically, culturally and linguistically combines the best of both worlds: Germany’s traditions, know-how and cultural roots with America’s drive and ambition.
With a PreK-12 campus in Mountain View, a PreK-8 campus in Berkeley (currently offering grades PreK-6), and the newest addition, a K-8 campus in San Francisco (currently offering grades K-3) the GISSV is the only institution in the western part of the United States to offer dual diplomas upon graduation, the German International Abitur (DIAP) as well as the California High School Diploma – qualifying the graduates for acceptance into European and American universities.
The school offers an ambitious curriculum that builds on German standards and integrates American teaching schedules. The focus lies on the bilingual education and its application in science and social studies as well as in arts and sports.
GISSV is accredited by WASC and the German Government and is a model school for multilingual learning. Students of the GISSV constantly prove their high level of knowledge: through the participation in German and American tests in elementary and middle school, and Advanced Placement examinations in high school.
